A 40,000-bottle revisitation of this blend of Corvina, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the Cecilia Beretta 2013 Picaie has a green Cabernet signature for sure. A bit tart, stemmy and brambly, this edition of those three grapes, which see a period of appassimento, shows medium concentration with broad shoulders of black fruit and plum. You'll find some nice freshness here and an easy-drinking character that would work just fine with a cheesy mushroom risotto. I'm not quite sure why they held this back so long. The Picaie is tart and sweet at the same time.
