The 2016 Blanco Fermentado en Barrica has a mixture of sawed oak and ripe apples with ripe, pungent flavors and moderate acidity. It fermented and matured in new French barriques. 37,500 bottles produced.

The straightforward barrel-fermented white 2015 Blanco Fermentado en Barrica is pure Viura with balsamic and medicinal aromas covering the white fruit. The palate is quite fruit-driven, with moderate acidity. 37,500 bottles produced.

A plush texture carries expressive flavors of melon, quince, almond and vanilla in this broad white. Shows good grip, with light, firm acidity and a spicy finish. Drink now through 2018. 1,000 cases imported.??–TM??Region: Spain / Rioja Select to Add

I tasted a barrel-fermented white from Campillo, the 2013 Blanco Fermentado en Barrica. It is from the challenging, cold and rainy vintage and is pure Viura. It only staged for three months in barrels after fermenting there, yet the nose is eminently oak-driven with notes of sawdust, toasty aromas and a core of ripe yellow and somewhat tropical fruit. The palate is fresh and replicates the aromas found in the nose. 38,000 bottles.
